A woman was found dead outdoors Wednesday night on the edge of Lauritzen Gardens in southeast Omaha, according to a person familiar with the police investigation.

The body was found about 8 p.m. near Fourth and Cedar Streets. The person who found the victim reported to a police dispatcher that the woman’s hands were blue.

An Omaha police spokesman declined late Wednesday to answer questions about the investigation.

Thursday morning, police said the body was likely the mother of a toddler found in a La Vista trash container on Wednesday evening.
