Hope Runnion didn’t know how she was going to pay November’s rent in 2016. The 25-year-old mother experienced complications from a surgery and was unable to work for more than three weeks.

Thanks to emergency assistance funds provided by Goodfellows, the Omaha World-Herald’s charity, Runnion’s landlord was paid $500 and she was able to stay in her home.

Since inception in 1910, Goodfellows has raised more than $15 million and helped thousands of area families.
