HE’S THE ONE They met on the first day of high school and played Tic-Tac-Toe every day in study hall. Lance wanted to put his name in her phone under “My amazing BF,’’ he says, because he would be that, soon. They had been dating for 5½ years when Lance proposed.

BEACH BABIES They’re obsessed with beaches, so it was only fitting that they would get engaged on one. Lance surprised Jalynn during a trip to Cabo San Lucas as a belated 21st birthday present. After a perfect beach proposal (despite the blowing wind), they returned to their room, where Lance had left a trail of rose petals. On the bed was a large heart made of roses, along with chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne. In his bag, he had a personalized coffee mug purchased on Etsy (Jalynn’s obsession) and a notebook filled with personal entries made in the months leading up to the proposal. “I was absolutely blown away by how much planning Lance did to make that night incredibly special,’’ Jalynn said. She returned the gesture on their wedding day with her own journal (three total) chronicling what they did each day leading up to the wedding and why she loved him. Lance kept monthly notes. “Words cannot describe what these notes mean to us,” the bride said of their journals. “We will forever cherish them.’’

MOSTLY ELEGANT They planned a romantic floral-themed wedding. At the reception, the maid of honor and best man surprised guests by entering the room dressed as Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas from the newlyweds’ favorite movie, “Dumb and Dumber.” “Everyone loved it,’’ Jalynn says.

PICTURE PERFECT Jalynn’s favorite decor element was an upholstered love seat for the head table. Her father was assigned to transport it to the venue, but didn’t realize it had fallen out of his truck while en route. Lance’s mother spotted it along the highway. “The poor love seat had a few scratches and tears on the back but still photographed beautifully,’’ Jalynn says.

TRAVEL ROUTE Instead of table numbers, guests found their seats by travel destinations represented in table signage handpainted by the bride’s makeup artist. Each sign reflected a place the couple had visited or plans to visit. The guestbook was a gold map personalized with a travel quote and the newlyweds’ last name. “I surprised Lance with a suitcase groom’s cake and, of course, we displayed hundreds of pictures of our adventures together,’’ Jalynn says. Her favorite gift was a personalized sign from their wedding decorator.

PUT A RING ON IT He says Jalynn is beautiful, witty and caring. She can’t resist his infectious smile. She’s discovered cooking and loves seeing that ring on his finger. Her wedding-day advice: “Enjoy every moment, big and small. There are things that will not go completely as planned. However, at the end of the day, one thing matters most. You just married the person you want to spend forever with. Nothing in the world compares to that feeling, that realization.’’
