PATRIOTIC SPIRITS The couple met during happy hour. “She liked the American flag jean jacket I wore with my boots, and I approved of her sincere appreciation for fine whiskey!” recounts Elliott. “After all, she is a country girl! What isn’t there to like?” As for Brittany, she says, “He is the most patriotic person I’ve ever met. For heaven’s sake, he has a giant 4-foot rooster painted like an American flag in his living room!”

NUPTIAL POLITICS When Elliott’s younger brother gave the “best dude” speech, he violated the social rule to steer clear of politics with Donald Trump signs and custom Koozies that said, “Make Marriage Great Again.” Cracks Brittany, “Don’t plan a wedding during an election!”

FAMILY DANCE “We had a ‘Team Huddle’ dance where Britt and I danced with my 3-year-old daughter, Brynley. When the DJ put on her favorite song, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ by Frankie Valli, her lit-up expression and reaction of utter excitement was priceless.”

IDEA WORTH STEALING “Open bar... All. Night.”

WEDDING-DAY JITTERS Elliott confesses he was “nervous as hell” before the wedding. He couldn’t eat that morning and paced relentlessly as the photographer arrived. “I bet I attempted to make my hair look just right at least a dozen times. I probably wasted half of my brand-new canister of 1821 hair spray!” Once he spied his bride, the butterflies subsided.

WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT HER “My best friend, my love, my life … and now my wife!”

WHAT SHE SAYS ABOUT HIM “My partner in crime for the rest of time!”

ALWAYS SEE THE BRIGHT SIDE The couple says to remain optimistic, no matter what wedding glitches arise. “If the s’mores bar goes up in flames, more people can roast marshmallows!”

ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE “Pick a husband who takes a genuine interest – borderline obsession – in the big day.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS Now that the big day is over, Brittany and Elliott like the change in math. “We’re counting up now, instead of counting down!”

WEDDING GIFT TOSS-UP The couple’s favorite wedding gifts are both residential: a door knocker engraved with their name for a future first home and a fish condo for Gil.

IDEA WORTH STEALING The couple planted a tree to celebrate their unity ceremony.
