HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS The two first met when Christine was a freshman in high school, and dating one of Jon’s friends. Later, Jon asked Christine out and they hit it off. In December 2016 he proposed, surprising her on what she thought was a girls' night out at the Upstream Brewing Company. Instead, she was greeted by her sister with a rose. She walked around downtown collecting flowers from family members while her sister followed taking pictures. “He was waiting at an archway on 13th and Farnam,’’ Christine said. “My brother-in-law had his phone on FaceTime so my oldest sister could be there too, which was the sweetest.’’

DREAM WEDDING Christine had thought about her wedding since she was young, talking about it with her older sisters and expecting it to be the most beautiful and perfect day of her life. Christine and Jon planned a day with a rustic-but-classy feel. Christine wanted a lot of gold and tons of greenery.

FLOWER DISASTER Christine had been telling her family how beautiful the wildflowers were on the 29 acres the couple had purchased, and so they decided it would be special to use them for the wedding. They picked a truckload and Christine, her mom and sisters designed the arrangements. Then disaster struck. Christine had a severe allergic reaction to the wildflower mix. “It wasn’t funny at the time, but I crack up now,’’ she says. “I couldn’t look at my husband while we were saying our vows ... When I tried, my eyes burned so badly ... I started to black out. So I looked down, but then my eyes and nose were pouring out water.’’ The situation was so crazy, they forgot her shoes, the wedding rings and items for the unity portion of the ceremony.  A trip to the emergency room caused her to miss their party bus and the first 3½ hours of their reception – including dinner. CHERISHED MOMENTS Christine said it was so sweet when she and her sisters realized that things were only getting worse. “We were holding hands walking up to the house, and I went totally blind. My eyes were swollen shut. My sister sat me down and was praying over me while my brother was telling me that I still looked beautiful and tried to make me wear his sunglasses,’’ she recalls. “It was the calmest part of my wedding day.’’ She also loved how photographer Jenny Wiese reacted to the situation, insisting on a redo day for photos. DJ Elliott Harris kept everyone updated. “I cried all day over the kind gestures.’’

PERFECT GROOM Christine can’t say enough about Jon’s response to the situation. He whisked her straight from the altar to the nearest emergency room, only to decide that it was too busy, so they headed for another one.

MRS. MILLER An engraved Bible from the bride’s grandparents was a favorite present. “It was the first time I saw ‘Christine Miller’ on anything. It was most special coming from my nana and papa because they are the main glue to our big, loud, crazy family who helped make my wedding day as bearable as possible.’’

IT’S NOT THE DRESS  “Getting through this crazy wedding day in the eyes of 300-plus people really showed us what we’re capable of and how we will handle trials and tribulations in the future.’’ Christine also couldn’t thank her family enough for the help they gave her. “If I could’ve actually seen what it all looked like, I know I would have been in absolute awe,’’ she says, “but I'm still in more awe of how much they did for me all for a wedding.’’
