Thunderstorms arrived in the Omaha metro area in the early morning hours Friday, bringing rain and wind and downing trees in some spots.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain for the 6 p.m. game between Vanderbilt and Louisville, said Paul Fajman, a Valley-based weather service meteorologist. Lightning, hail and gusty winds are possible, he said.

Rain is expected to pick up again before 4 a.m. Saturday before the skies turn partly sunny. The weather service forecasts a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Saturday.

The stormy weather may reappear throughout the weekend, with a slight risk of severe weather on Saturday evening in southeast Nebraska.

Sunday brings a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms with a high around 79 degrees.
