Senior Katarina Zarudnaya broke the school record in the 1,500 meters to help the UNO track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the Summit League outdoor championships on Friday.

On top of breaking the 30-year-old record with a time of 4:29.10, Zarudnaya finished eighth in the 800 meters.

In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman Maddie Buller finished seventh with a time of 1:08.10 and Ashley Kildow placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:02.32.

North Dakota State repeated as champion with 282 points, beating out South Dakota which finished with 209. The Mavericks ended the day with 43 points.
