The UNO baseball team closed its season Saturday with a 6-5, walk-off win in 10 innings against Incarnate Word.

Cole Patterson singled with runners at the corners in the 10th to lift the Mavs (21-31). Patterson finished with two hits.

Cole Gruber went 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored, Ryan Cate drove in two runs and Justin Threlkeld — who scored on Patterson’s winning single — also had two hits.

Shane Meltz (4-3) earned the win in relief, holding Incarnate Word (21-33) hitless in the final two innings while striking out one. UNO starter Zach Williamsen allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits over seven innings, striking out two while walking none.

Saturday’s game was UNO’s final athletic event as a reclassifying member of Division I. Starting in the 2015-16 season, the Mavs will be eligible for NCAA championships in all sports.
