UNO announced the signing of Cyprus native Elena Pilakouta on Friday.

Pilakouta, a 6-3 player from Nicosia, Cyprus, is a two-time Cyprus women’s basketball player of the year. She joins the Mavericks after years of playing for the Cyprus national teams at international competitions.

“Elena is a great addition to our roster,” coach Brittany Lange said in a release. “She is currently representing her country’s national team. Elena gives us great size and a true presence at the center position that allows our team to play longer and bigger lineups.”

Pilakouta led Cyprus to the FIBA U18 Women’s European Division C championship last summer, averaging 12.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the tournament.
