Two western Iowa girls finish in top 10

DES MOINES — Two western Iowa bowlers earned top 10 medals and Creston/Orient-Macksburg finished third in the team race to highlight action at the Class 1-A girls state bowling meet at Plaza Lanes on Monday.

Ashley Knipfer recorded a two-game score of 406 to place third individually while fellow senior Hailey Andersen of Harlan rolled a 393 to finish seventh.

Creston (total score of 2,547) ended third, while Harlan (2,316) took fifth and Shenandoah (2,141) was seventh. Camanche (2,842) won the championship.

Junior JaCee Hogue led Shenandoah with a score of 342, good for 17th overall.

The Class 2-A portion of the girls meet begins Tuesday morning at Plaza Lanes.

Team scoring: Camanche 2,842, West Delaware 2,788, Creston/Orient-Macksburg 2,547, Knoxville 2,409, Harlan 2,316, Tripoli 2,302, Shenandoah 2,141.

Red Oak fourth, OA-BCIG seventh in team race

DES MOINES — Red Oak finished fourth and OA-BCIG took seventh in the Class 1-A portion of the boys state bowling meet Monday at Plaza Lanes.

Red Oak senior Ryan Plambeck was western Iowa’s top finisher, rolling a two-game total of 385 to end in 16th. OA-BCIG’s top performer was senior Jacob Henderson (34th, 334).

Creston/Orient-Macksburg individual qualifier Blake Eddy turned in a 346, good for 32nd.

The Class 2-A boys state meet begins Tuesday morning at Plaza Lanes.

CLASS 1-A

Team scoring: Camanche 3,122, Vinton-Shellsburg 2,927, Charles City 2,902, Red Oak 2,735, Louisa-Muscatine 2,725, Clarke 2,611, OA-BCIG 2,509.
