Memorial Stadium was a sea of red, with 85,946 packing the house on a Saturday when temperatures reached the low 50s. Yes, it’s game day in Lincoln — even if it’s technically just the spring game. But this annual April tradition offers Husker fans, coaches and media a chance to look into the future. Well, about 4½ months into the future, when the season officially starts. So far, it appears that the defense is improved while there were some youngsters on offense who flashed their potential. Of course, quarterback Adrian Martinez looked sharp, too. Now the state will wait for Aug. 31 to return to Memorial Stadium for the season opener against South Alabama.
