Husker football: A hearty call for encores

The first night game at Memorial Stadium in almost two years featured two blocked punts, three blocked field goals, a safety, 60-yard runs from two Husker running backs and a botched onside kick. But this time Nebraska won. After a series of close games, the Huskers’ 44-8 win was a welcome sight for NU. Other welcome sights were Adrian Martinez avoiding turnovers and accounting for two touchdowns, and a 100-yard rushing day from Dedrick Mills. Nebraska’s offense averaged 11.2 yards per play in the first half and 8.1 for the game after looking a bit out of sync the first two games.
