College World Series: Michigan rocks this big house

The CWS championship series opener drew 24,707 to TD Ameritrade Park on Monday. And they saw some performance by Tommy — we don’t mean The Who’s rock opera, either. (Though this kid sure threw a mean fastball.) While his offense delivered an early lead, and Jimmy Kerr and Joe Donovan added to it with long homers, Tommy Henry pitched into the ninth inning for his second win of the CWS. That added up to a 7-4 victory against second-seeded Vanderbilt. The Wolverines are now one win away from their first title since 1962, not to mention the first for any Big Ten team since 1966.
