Mike Krumland of Columbus has qualified for his first USGA national championship.
Krumland shot a 2-over-par 73 at Happy Hollow Club to win Monday’s sectional qualifier for the U.S. Senior Amateur. He finished a stroke ahead of John Sajevic of Fremont and James Curell of Boone, Iowa. Curell won a playoff to be first alternate.

Four-time champion Jane Pohlman took a six-stroke lead in the Nebraska senior women’s amateur at Oakland Golf Club by shooting a 1-under 71 in Monday’s first round.
Tied for second at 77 are three-time defending champion Susan Marchese and former state champion Cathy Nelson, both of Omaha.

White leads state’s pros
Eleven-time champion Jim White shot 67 in Monday’s second round to lead the Nebraska Section Professional Championship at ArborLinks in Nebraska City by one stroke over Shane Zywiec, also of Lincoln, with 18 holes to go on Tuesday.
First-round leader Tom Hearn, a PGA Tour official from Lincoln, set the course record with an opening 66 but fell to a 75 in the second round to be at 3-under-par 141, two strokes behind White’s 139.
