New Omaha Lancers owner Anthony DiCesare plans to build on the tradition that has made the United States Hockey League franchise one of the top junior hockey programs for nearly three decades.

DiCesare, whose nickname is Koots, is the owner of Crossbar Down, LLC, the organization that purchased majority interest Tuesday in American Hockey Group, Inc., the parent company of the Omaha Lancers.

Existing Omaha investors, including Lancers managing partner Ben Robert, will maintain a minority ownership interest in the organization.

“I look forward to the challenge of building on the rich heritage of the Omaha Lancers,” DiCesare said. “Our singular focus will be to build on that success.”

Robert announced this summer that he had accepted the position of president of Montreal-based Quebecor Sports and Entertainment.

“The USHL is excited to bring in this new owner,” Commissioner Bob Fallen said. “His skill set will only serve to enhance the strong values that American Hockey Group ... has implemented over the past 10 years.
