CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Terrance Coleman and Jose Camacho are veterans in the amateurs.

The Nebraska boxers have again won their opening-round bouts at the National Golden Gloves.

Coleman advanced in the Tournament of Champions for the fourth consecutive year with a 5-0 decision over Rydell Blann of Toledo in the 165-pound division. Camacho, meanwhile, moved on for the third straight year with a win over Thomas Blair of the Mid-South at 132.

The fighters, both national quarterfinalists in the past, will compete in the second round of the tourney Wednesday. Heavyweight Cody Kerr, who has yet to fight, is scheduled to go that night as well.

Three local boxers have already been eliminated. Jeremiah Perales and Roberto Torres lost by unanimous decision at 123 and 141, respectively. Daniel Campagna was stopped in his bout at 152.

Reigning women’s national champion Brittany Parker is off until Friday’s semifinals at 178-plus pounds.
