Lancers held scoreless until third period in loss to Team USA U17

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The Lancers were held scoreless through the first two periods in dropping a 6-2 decision to Team USA’s U17 team Sunday afternoon.

Team USA built a 4-0 lead on its way to the victory.

Team USA scored once in the first period as Ohio State commit Sean Dhooghe beat goaltender Zackarias Skog for his eighth goal of the season. After the Lancers missed a chance to tie early in the second period, Team USA got goals from Grant Mismash and Scott Reedy in the first eight minutes to make it 3-0.

Team USA added another goal less than five minutes into the third before Omaha got on the board. Matt Meier scored his sixth goal of the season with less than 13 minutes to play, but Team USA answered 21 seconds later on Mismash’s second goal.

Omaha again cut its deficit to three when Jake Massie scored as Austin Lemieux and Mitch Perrault had assists. It was Massie’s third goal of the season. But that’s as close as the Lancers would get as Team USA added an empty-netter to close out the scoring.

The Lancers return home next weekend to host Tri-City on Friday and Waterloo on Saturday.
