Jordyn Bahl

Papillion-La Vista pitcher Jordyn Bahl has withdrawn her verbal commitment to Nebraska.

Papillion-La Vista Jordyn Bahl has withdrawn her verbal commitment to play softball at Nebraska beginning in the 2022 season.

The two-time All-Nebraska pitcher, who will be a junior for the Monarchs this season, had committed to the Huskers before the start of her freshman year at Papio.

Papillion-La Vista coach Todd Petersen said Bahl wanted to test the market and go through a more thorough recruiting process than she did two years ago.

Though communication with prospective schools can’t begin until Sept. 1, Bahl is expected to attract attention from some of the top Division I Power Five programs.

Many of the coaches from those programs are expected to be in the Denver and Boulder, Colorado, area this week, where more than 1,000 club teams from around the country, will be playing, including Bahl’s Nebraska Premier Gold team.

Last season Bahl posted a 24-2 record with 261 strikeouts; she also hit .489 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs for the 2018 Class A state runner-ups.
