Nebraska adds Omaha Skutt record-breaker Christian Banker as preferred walk-on

Christian Banker broke the Class B record with 1,276 receiving yards last season.

Omaha Skutt wide receiver Christian Banker has accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity at Nebraska.

The Omaha Skutt senior was first-team All-Nebraska and set Class B’s single-season record with 1,276 receiving yards, making 70 catches for 12 touchdowns.

“Playing college football has always been a goal of mine since I started playing football in kindergarten,” Banker said. “Playing at Nebraska just makes it a dream come true.”

Banker — 6-foot-1, 185 pounds — is known to be a workout warrior, the first in the weight room and the last to leave. A multi-sport athlete, Banker was the second leading scorer on Skutt's basketball team averaging 14 points per game.

Throughout the 2016 football season Banker made one-handed catches a regularity. “Christian made some amazing one-handed catches,” Skutt coach Matt Turman told The World-Herald in December.

Banker joins fellow Omaha Skutt standout Trent Hixson as a walk-on joining the Husker football program next season.
