Dylan Kautz

Dylan Kautz excels both in football and track for Norfolk Catholic.

Norfolk Catholic junior Dylan Kautz is a known commodity around Nebraska, but the speedy running back is yet to receive a Division-I scholarship offer.

He recently visited Minnesota and Iowa for junior days and enjoyed his time at both schools.

"Minnesota is looking at me as a running back and Iowa as a slot receiver," Kautz said. "Minnesota seemed a little more interested in me than Iowa, but I like both places. When I got to Minnesota Coach (PJ) Fleck said he loved my film."

The Gophers told Kautz they will keep a close eye on him this spring. The Minnesota coaches could potentially make visits to see Kautz in person, whether it be at a track meet or a stop by the school. Kautz said he is going to try and see one of the Gophers' spring practices too.

Kautz's next planned trip is to South Dakota State for junior day on Friday. He was also invited to Nebraska's junior day on March 31.

Kautz — 5-foot-8, 180 pounds — can run between the tackles and has breakaway speed to score every time he touches the ball. He's the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2019 class, according to the NebHSRecruiting rankings.

A star on the football field and track, Kautz has personal best times of 10.67 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 21.63 seconds in the 200 and a 4.44-second electronic-timed 40-yard dash.

Indiana, Michigan, and Texas Tech have reached out about a potential track scholarship.
