Jevyon Ducker

Jevyon Ducker already has a pair of Division I scholarship offers.

Jevyon Ducker had a busy spring break.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back from Bellevue West made two unofficial visits hours away from his home state. He has one more scheduled for Saturday.

Ducker visited Purdue on Monday. The Boilermakers are one of two Division I schools that have offered the sophomore. The other is South Dakota State.

Ducker enjoyed his time in West Lafayette, Indiana. In particular, he appreciated being invited into a running back position group meeting.

"The practice was cool to see, but I liked the position group meeting the most," Ducker said. "I got to see how they coach their running backs on an individual level."

Purdue's facilities and academic support also stuck out to Ducker, as did the way coaches envision him fitting into the Boilermaker offense.

"I have a 3.5 GPA now, and they are a top-five academic school, which I though was really neat," Ducker said. "They took the time to explain their running back depth chart and how I would fit. The Bellevue West offense is very similar to what they run at Purdue."

Ducker has family in the Chicago area, and he made a trip to Northern Illinois on Tuesday morning for a shorter visit.

"I got the chance to meet some of the coaches and do a quick tour of the facilities," Ducker said. "They are focused on their 2019 class but said for someone like me, they will make an exception and start contacting me more in the summer."

A visit to Nebraska for its first junior day on Saturday is next for Ducker. A return trip to Purdue and visits to two more Big Ten schools could happen this summer.

"Minnesota and Iowa asked me to go to camps this summer, and I will probably go to Nebraska's camp," Ducker said.
