A funeral Mass for former UNO track athlete and Ralston coach Chuck Wallerstedt will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Cathedral, 701 N. 40th St.

Wallerstedt, 67, died June 28.

A 1967 Omaha Cathedral graduate, he was a distance runner and basketball player for the Cardinals. He averaged 18.2 points as a senior. He ran cross country and track at UNO.

Wallerstedt was a longtime teacher at Ralston, coaching track and cross country for about 25 years and girls basketball for six. His 1988 girls cross country team was Class A champion.

Survivors include daughters Michaela and Michelle Wallerstedt. Both were state track and field champions in the throws and competed in college for Stanford and George Mason, respectively.
