AMES, Iowa — Iowa State was picked to finish second in the Big 12, the conference announced Monday.
It is the third consecutive season the Cyclones have been picked to finish second. Defending NCAA champion Texas received the maximum amount of first place votes by league's coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own team. The Cyclones received one first place vote.
Kansas was picked third, followed by Kansas State, Oklahoma and Baylor.
Iowa State's regular season begins Aug. 30 at the UND Classic against South Dakota State.
