PORTLAND, Maine — Eduards Tralmaks scored with 2:44 left to carry Maine to a 3-2 win over UNO on Saturday night.
Tralmaks beat UNO goalie Austin Roden for the second time when he scored off a rebound of Tim Doherty’s shot.
UNO’s Tristan Keck had pulled the Mavericks (8-9-4) even at 2-2 when he put in a rebound on Martin Sundberg’s shot with 3:31 left in the second period.
But the Mavericks couldn’t beat Jeremy Swayman in the third period. Swayman had seven saves in the period and 30 overall. UNO also failed to convert on six power-play attempts.
The Mavs scored first when defenseman John Schuldt scored his first career goal with 5:10 remaining in the first period.
The Black Bears answered with a pair of goals in the second period. Samuel Rennaker scored on a breakaway after an expiring penalty halfway through the period, and Tralmaks scored his first goal of the game just more than three minutes later.
With starting goalie Isaiah Saville representing Team USA at the World Junior Championship, Roden started for the second straight game. After stopping 46 shots in Friday’s series opener, Roden had 21 saves Saturday.
The Mavericks will travel to No. 1 North Dakota on Friday.
