How he got here: Nance was something of a secret outside of Oklahoma City even after his junior season. Then he began working out with former Sooner and trainer J.D. Runnels. Those videos quickly turned into an invite to a major recruiting camp, where Nance’s stock blew up with offers. One of those was from Nebraska, and Nance visited in June before committing publicly a week later. The wideout reaffirmed others’ faith in him with a standout senior year that included 36 catches for 523 yards (14.5 per catch) and nine touchdowns along with a pair of scores on kickoff and punt returns. Nance will enroll in January and participate in spring practices.

Our take: The workout videos show a sure-handed athlete with the quick-twitch muscles to jump on a six-foot box and run a 40-yard dash in 4.5. Enrolling early can’t hurt his chances at playing time in the fall, and he has a chance to be the kind of over-the-top threat Nebraska hasn’t had at receiver in years. Like with many of NU’s 2019 commits, he could be a contributor on either side of the ball. The pure speed is what sets him apart and gives him a niche as an early contributor at a position of need for NU.

They said it: “I knew he was a Power Five talent. I did not know what school he was going to end up at, but his measurables let me know from Day 1 that he was big time. There are very few kids I’ll say this about. If I had a bed at my gym, Jamie would live here.”  — Runnels
