Nebraska inside linebackers coach Barrett Ruud and the Husker coaching staff have made a strong impression on one of the nation’s top linebackers.

Cody Simon, a four-star prospect out of St. Peter’s Prep School in New Jersey, told Rivals this week the Huskers are in his top three along with Ohio State and Penn State. A final decision will come before the start of his high school training camp.

Simon visited Nebraska on June 7 for his official and went to Ohio State on June 21. He’s seen Penn State more than once, as well. His older brother, Shayne, is an inside linebacker at Notre Dame.

“They’ve proven that they can turn teams around and do great things,” Simon told Rivals of Nebraska’s coaching staff. “I feel like they have a lot of stuff that I would want to be a part of. The family vibe was great, and I feel like I would be able to get on the field pretty quickly if I were to go there.”

Simon is the nation’s No. 187 prospect according to Rivals and No. 154 according to the 247Sports composite.
