Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos

Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos embraces the preseason hype around the program because NU's brand needs to be "dusted off."

CHICAGO — Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos wants all the preseason praise the media wants to give Husker football in year two of the Scott Frost era. NU was picked as a Big Ten West co-favorite by league beat writers Wednesday and has been a darling of preseason magazine prognostications.

“The hype is good because this is Nebraska,” Moos said Thursday at Big Ten media days. “We’ve got a brand, and we need to get it dusted off. Year two, maybe that’s not quite there yet. Three sounds a little bit better.”

Moos wouldn’t commit to a predicted win total. He wants six, for sure, so Nebraska can make a bowl game and get several extra weeks of practice.

“I like the way our schedule lays out,” Moos said.

More notes from Moos’ brief time with the media:

» Nebraska is looking at building a new football administrative building but has no approval yet to do so.

“We’re a ways away,” Moos said.

» Moos hired two administrators on Wednesday, John Johnson and Garrett Klassy, who complement him well and have experience working with him. Johnson will be the liaison to Nebraska basketball coach Fred Hoiberg.

“What Garrett and John bring is knowledge of the bigger picture,” Moos said. “They’ve been to Alabama and Wisconsin and Washington State. They’ve been in various different conferences and such, and that’s really going to help.”
