How did the morning go? Was there a ceremony at your high school this morning?

Tony Butler: My morning is going great. This feels like a dream. There will be [a ceremony] at 2 p.m.

You won a state championship in high school. What did you learn from having that success that you think you can bring to Lincoln?

Tony Butler: I won two. I learned a lot from it. Playing on the big stage is the best thing.

Did being a three-star recruit give you some motivation? Do you think it will, or do you feel like you maybe deserved an extra star? Or do you not really care about that stuff?

Tony Butler: I don't care about stars. They're meaningless. I only care about growing as a player and a person.

Coach Riley is as genuine as Coca Cola and there looks to be a real family atmosphere down in Lincoln. What is your take on the culture of the team and how this 2016 class fits into the family?

Tony Butler: I feel like the culture is toughness, which I like. The 2016 class, we are bonding. We are in a group message now, and we talk about everything.

Did a chance at playing in the Big Ten impact your recruitment at all?

Tony Butler: Yes it did toward the end of my recruitment. I wanted to get back at Ohio State and Michigan State for not offering me. I felt overlooked.

Does being snubbed by some other Big Ten schools like Ohio State and Michigan State fuel you now that you'll play against them?

Tony Butler: Yes it does. It's personal.

What player is your role model, either growing up or a current player right now?

Tony Butler: Growing up I admired Charles Woodson. He was just the premier athlete and I always wanted to be like him.

What skills do you bring to the team? What is it that you think makes you unique in the secondary?

Tony Butler: I think I can play multiple position which is what's unique about my game.

What was it that most sold you on Nebraska?

Tony Butler: I just felt comfortable and loved it there. I loved everything about the visit and loved the coaches. I believed in the coaches' schemes.
