Coach Bo Pelini won't yet rule out junior right tackle Zach Sterup, who's missed a considerable amount of practice the last couple weeks with a right leg injury.
The team's top right tackle heading into preseason camp could "possibly" make an appearance in the season opener Saturday.
If not, it'll likely be a combination of juniors Givens Price and Matt Finnin at that right tackle spot. Price had been the guy taking most of the first-team reps in practice last week (this week's practices were not open to the media).
"He's practiced well," Pelini said of Price. "We thought he did well at guard and then we moved him out to tackle in the fall and he looks even more comfortable."
Below are a few other tidbits from Pelini's conversation with reporters Thursday.
>> Freshman Drew Brown will be the first guy called on to kick a field goal, if necessary Saturday, Pelini said. But it is possible Mauro Bondi gets some work in that role, too. Bondi will be the kickoff specialist once again.
>> Nebraska's altered its weekly practice routine this season. Fridays walkthrough is now being conducted on Thursday. There will be half-padded practice on Friday now. To give you a sense of the laid-back nature of Thursday's session: Pelini was wearing sandals on the practice field.
>> It's been a good month for Jamal Turner, apparently. Said Pelini: "He's done everything we've asked of him. He's contributing in every area. Special teams. He moves around on offense. He's learned all the positions. I think he's going to have a really good year for us.”
