Nebraska guard Sam Haiby won her first Big Ten freshman of the week honor on Monday.
Haiby, a reserve for the Huskers, averaged 15 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in an 84-64 win over Purdue and an 82-78 loss to Indiana. She hit 66.7 percent of her field goals (10 for 15) and was 3 for 4 on 3-pointers.
Haiby is averaging 10 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 21.5 minutes per game this season. She's the second Husker to be named the conference's freshman of the week this season, following Leigha Brown on Jan. 7.
Haiby shared the award this week with Michigan’s Naz Hillmon, who has received that honor four times this season.
NU returns to the court Thursday at Michigan.
