The World-Herald is counting down the top 50 Nebraska players you need to know heading into the 2017 season.

Nebraska had to make some winter decisions after hiring Bob Diaco as defensive coordinator and going to a 3-4 scheme, and Ferguson was ultimately believed to be a best fit at outside linebacker. He is considered versatile enough to play either spot, however, and should push for some playing time as the Huskers go forward.

The New Orleans product took a different path to his sophomore season, playing on special teams as a true freshman in 2015 before redshirting a year ago. Ferguson followed Mike Riley to NU, flipping from an initial commitment to Oregon State.
