The World-Herald is counting down the top 50 Nebraska players you need to know heading into the 2017 season.

DaiShon Neal

6-7 | 275 | Sophomore | DE

Few fill out the uniform and look the part as well as Neal, so now it becomes time for the Omaha Central grad to prove he can play. Nebraska needs a big season from veteran Freedom Akinmoladun at the open-side defensive end spot, for sure, but Neal should pick up some snaps and get a chance to prove he deserves more.

The size and athleticism is definitely there to be effective against both the run and pass, and Neal has now had about 18 months working under John Parrella. Is Neal somebody who benefits from the move to a 3-4 scheme? The next few months will start telling the story.
