The World-Herald is counting down the top 50 Nebraska players you need to know heading into the 2017 season.

Antonio Reed

6-2  |  210  |  Junior  |  S

Reed already has appeared in 25 games, including his first career start in the Music City Bowl after Nate Gerry was ruled ineligible. It appears he will start the season as a backup safety again — with Aaron Williams and Joshua Kalu emerging as the No. 1s after spring practice — but Reed offers important value on special teams.

Since arriving in 2015, Reed has been coached by Brian Stewart, Mark Banker and Bob Elliott, and will start fall camp with Scott Booker as his position coach. Reed was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor marijuana possession in May, but NU has yet to comment on any possible discipline.
