Less than an hour had passed after Ohio State wrapped up its lopsided defeat of Nebraska, and Buckeye assistant Zach Smith had already apparently taken a shot at the Huskers and Keith Williams.
Smith, the OSU receivers coach, tweeted a selfie from the field with his position group and added the caption "#RIPHarambe" — a reference to a gorilla killed at the Cincinnati Zoo earlier this year, but also likely a veiled insult for Williams, who refers to his own position group as "Gorilla wideouts."
The two wide receivers coaches have sparred over social media before, and what happened Saturday seems to be just another chapter in their online war.
That battle seems to have its start with recruiting. Smith and Williams have fought over a handful of recruits, most notably Tyjon Lindsey. NU and OSU were believed to be the top two schools on the prospect's list before he chose the Buckeyes in August.Â
Their fight wasn't just limited to that. Smith also posted a tweet soon after Williams' arrest in August for a DUI that seemingly criticized the Husker assistant for his transgression.
Williams commented on the war of tweets with Smith earlier this week, saying, “I’ve never met him. It was never a problem.”
Below is a screenshot of Smith's tweet from Saturday:

This tweet was sent from Ohio State assistant Zach Smith's account soon after the Nebraska game. The tweet appears to be a shot taken at Husker assistant Keith Williams.
