Big Ten Network sent out the warning at Big Ten media days about its expiring carriage deals with Comcast Xfinity, the No. 1 cable company in the Big Ten footprint.

Now BTN is enlisting league coaches in a public relations campaign that urges Comcast customers to lobby the company for BTN and FS1.

BTN started Thursday morning airing a 30-second TV ad featuring most of the league coaches — Nebraska’s Scott Frost included — and directing viewers to a website, KeepBigTen.com. The site offers a chance to call Comcast, explore alternative networks or post a note on Twitter about the issue.

The BTN/Comcast deal expires Aug. 31. Comcast is not one of the top cable/Internet providers in Nebraska, but it does significant business throughout the Big Ten footprint, especially in Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
