A new green space area for students could pop up on the place where Creighton baseball practices. But that’s the good news. It means the Jays may soon be moving to a new practice facility. Or, dare we say, a new ballpark?

“They (administration) have an idea what they want to do with the center of campus, and that doesn’t include baseball or softball,” Creighton baseball coach Ed Servais said. “I think there will be changes shortly.”

Creighton baseball has fallen off the radar, nationally and locally, in the Big East. But the Jays had Omaha’s attention last spring. They won both the Big East regular season and tournament titles and made it to the NCAA regional championship game before losing to national runner-up Michigan.
