SAN ANTONIO — Cory Spangenberg drove in five runs and was a triple shy of the cycle, as he led San Antonio to a 9-2 win over the Storm Chasers on Thursday night.

Spangenberg hit a two-run home run in the first inning, an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run double in the seventh. Travis Shaw capped San Antonio’s five-run seventh with a two-run homer.

Omaha starter Scott Blewett suffered the loss as he allowed four runs in 4⅔ innings. In his last three starts, Blewett has given up 17 earned runs in 11 innings.

Omaha’s offense was held to four hits. Ryan O’Hearn hit a solo home run in the second, while Brett Phillips hit his team-best 10th triple of the season.

San Antonio starter Drew Smyly, who made nine starts for the Texas Rangers before being released two weeks ago, worked five innings to earn his first victory with the Missions.

The Chasers, who put together a four-game winning streak before the all-star break, continue their series at San Antonio on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
