MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Omaha and Memphis stood tied 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning Saturday when rain suspended the game until Sunday afternoon.

Memphis starter Ryan Helsley retired 12 of the 13 batters he faced and Omaha trailed 3-0 after six innings.

But the Chasers scored three in the seventh as Nick Dini drew a bases-loaded walk, former Creighton shortstop Nicky Lopez drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and Humberto Arteaga singled home Elier Hernandez.

Arteaga had two of the Chasers’ five hits. He is off to a 5 of 12 (.417) start. Kelvin Gutierrez and Hernandez had Omaha’s other hits.

Omaha starter Foster Griffin allowed three runs on three hits in four innings. Griffin, who was making his Triple-A debut, had four strikeouts but also four walks. Griffin was 10-12 with a 5.13 ERA in 26 starts for Double-A Northwest Arkansas last year.

Adolis Garcia had an RBI triple in the first inning for the Redbirds, and Ramon Urias hit a two-run double in the third.

The Storm Chasers and Redbirds will resume the game at 2:05 p.m. and will follow 30 minutes later with Sunday’s scheduled game. Ben Lively will start for the Storm Chasers against Memphis’ Daniel Ponce de Leon.

Lively was 0-3 with a 5.64 ERA in 10 major league appearances last year with the Phillies and Royals.
