On a hot Friday night at Werner Park, Memphis hit four home runs, outslugging the Storm Chasers 8-4.

Omaha — which saw its three-game winning streak snapped — hit a pair of homers, including a two-run shot by Jorge Bonifacio in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. It was Bonifacio’s team-best 15th homer this season.

But John Nogowski and Adolis Garcia hit back-to-back homers in the fourth to put Memphis in front, and Garcia added a two-run homer in the fifth for a 6-2 lead.

Kelvin Gutierrez slammed a two-run shot in the sixth, which traveled 430 feet, to cut the Chasers’ deficit to 6-4, but that’s as close as Omaha got.

The Cardinals’ bullpen was sharp after Memphis starter Harold Arauz was ejected in the sixth inning for hitting Chasers catcher Nick Dini with a pitch. Three relievers combined for 3 1⁄3 shutout innings.

Omaha reliever Heath Fillmyer was ejected in the ninth inning for hitting Lane Thomas with a pitch.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
