Brett Phillips, Samir Duenez drive in three apiece to lead Omaha to their sixth straight road win

DES MOINES, Iowa — Brett Phillips and Samir Duenez each drove in three runs Monday to lead Omaha to its sixth straight road victory with an 11-5 win at Iowa.

The Storm Chasers grabbed an early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning. Bubba Starling drove in Humberto Arteaga with a sacrifice fly to start the scoring run, and Duenez drove in two runs with a double.

Duenez drove in another run with a single in the second inning as the Chasers extended their lead to 7-1.

Phillips added a three-run home run in the seventh to put Omaha ahead 11-4.

Duenez, Nick Dini, Elier Hernandez and Erick Mejia each finished with two hits for the Storm Chasers.

Omaha starter Heath Fillmyer (2-1) picked up the win despite allowing three runs and nine hits over five innings.

Victor Caratini doubled and singled twice for the Cubs. Phillip Evans homered and singled, driving in two runs.

The Storm Chasers and Cubs will finish their four-game series Tuesday at 12:08 p.m.
