Omaha Roncalli graduate Alec Bohm, who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, is one of 50 players chosen to play in the All-Star Futures Game next month.

The annual showcase features many of the top prospects in Major League Baseball and will take place July 7 at 6 p.m. on the MLB Network.

Bohm is in his first full professional season playing in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He’s currently playing third base for the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils. In six games he has five hits, two homers and four RBIs.

At all levels this season, Bohm, who has been promoted twice this spring, is hitting .331 with 32 extra-base hits, including nine home runs, and 42 RBIs. Bohm is the Phillies’ No. 1 prospect and No. 38 in the MLB Pipeline Top 100.

Bohm, a two-time All-Nebraska selection who played at Wichita State, was the second-highest drafted player from Nebraska, trailing only Alex Gordon, the No. 2 overall pick in 2005.

Another player with local connections, Monte Harrison, will also play in the Futures Game. Once a Nebraska football recruit, Harrison is playing in Triple-A New Orleans for the Marlins organization.
