Bees salvage split with Chasers behind Enright's effort

SALT LAKE CITY — Barry Enright pitched seven scoreless innings and two relievers finished off the shutout as Salt Lake beat Omaha 3-0 and earned a split of a four-game series Tuesday night.

Omaha, which has Wednesday off, went 6-2 on the road trip. The Storm Chasers’ lead over second-place Memphis in the PCL’s American Conference North slipped to two games.

The Chasers got a strong start from Everett Teaford (4-3), who gave up three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out six in seven innings.

But the left-hander had his streak of 20 Omaha starts without a loss, dating to April, 2011, come to an end.

Salt Lake scored all three of its runs in the sixth -- on an RBI double by Roberto Lopez and a two-run single by Efren Navarro. third in the PCL with a .340 average.

Teaford would rank third in ERA at 2.92, but he is 10 1/3 innings short of qualifying.

Omaha also lost Danny Duffy to Kansas City on Tuesday, as it was announced the left-hander was returning to the big leagues. Duffy, 3-0 with a 4.21 ERA, had been scheduled to start Thursday when Omaha plays host to Sacramento.

Irving Falu had two hits to extend his on-base streak to 27 games, two short of the longest in the PCL this season.

Omaha outhit Salt Lake 7-5.
