The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to waive permit fees for residents repairing, renovating or demolishing homes damaged by recent flooding.

“People dealing with a flooded home are already facing a large financial burden without the additional cost of permit fees,” said Don Kelly, chairman of the Sarpy County Board.

“Our main objective is to make it as easy as possible for people to repair their homes and rebuild their lives.”

The board waived all building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and floodplain development permit fees associated with repairing or renovating structures affected by the March flood. The board also waived permit fees required to demolish structures.

Property owners choosing to rebuild a demolished home will be responsible for permit fees associated with the new construction.
