The Ralston Cafe & Ice Cream Shoppe recently closed its doors.

The Ralston Cafe & Ice Cream Shoppe closed its doors in early March.

The downtown restaurant, located at 7614 Main St., had opened in March of 2018 under owner Beth Howie.

On the restaurant’s Facebook page, Howie said a difficult winter made it a struggle for the restaurant to keeps its doors open.

“This winter was brutal for restaurants and we were no exception,” she said via Facebook. “We were not able to weather it and were forced to shut our doors.

“I want to thank the community for all the support and love they gave me over the last year,” Howie said. “I enjoyed meeting everyone and building relationships with them. It was truly my pleasure to get to know them. I would like to remind everyone to shop local.”
