The Frank and Velma Johnson Ralston Archives Museum sponsored its annual pie baking contest during the Picnic in the Park event July 3 at Ralston Park.

There were 14 entries vying for top honors with prizes awarded in top three of each category.

In the fruit pie category, Trudy Fennell was the winner with her peach pie. Fennell won a $30 gift certificate to Maria’s Mexican Restaurant.

In the non-fruit pie category, Diana O’Reilly took home top honors with her Blackforest chocolate pecan pie. O’Reilly won a $30 gift certificate to Agave Azteca restaurant.

Second place in the fruit category went to KC Humphrey with a cherry raspberry. Humphrey won a $20 gift certificate to Maria’s.

In the non-fruit category, second place was awarded to Don Johnson for a pecan pie.

Johnson received a $20 gift certificate to PepperJax Grill, courtesy of Jim Goodman from Edward Jones.

Third place in the fruit category went to Marian Speschinger for a summer berry pie. Speschinger received a $10 gift certificate to TCBY. There was no third-place recipient in the non-fruit pie division.

Serving as judges were Casey Craven, Cathy Curtis and Brad Groesser.
