The annual pie baking contest will take place July 3 at Ralston Park, 7700 Park Drive, prior to the city picnic. Entry forms can be printed at cityofralston.com. An entry form must accompany each pie entered. Forms can also be completed at the time of entry.

Pies can be entered in the fruit or other categories.

Entries must be in a non-returnable tin and glass plates will not be accepted. No cream, meringue or refrigerated pies allowed.

Each pie must have a crust and store-bought crusts will be marked down. Pies must be delivered to Ralston Park by 4 p.m. on July 3 in order to be judged. Judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Frank and Velma Johnson Ralston Archives Museum Pie and Ice Cream Social.

Pies will be sold by the slice, plain or ala mode. There will also be brownies with or without ice cream or a dish of ice cream. Cost is $2.50 for a slice of pie, $3 for pie ala mode; $1 for a dish of ice cream or a brownie and $1.50 for a brownie with ice cream.

Donations of fruit pies, not entered in the contest, would be appreciated and will be accepted at the park the same day.

Call Jan Gorman at 402-331-1657 to donate a fruit pie or for more information.

Proceeds will benefit the Frank and Velma Johnson Ralston Archives Museum.
