Craig Cullen, a mainstay at both Omaha Brickworks and A 72nd Street Self Storage, died suddenly on Jan. 23. He was 47.

Cullen was born and raised in Ralston, graduating from Ralston High School in 1988.

He went to work for his father, Maurice, who owned and operated Omaha Brickworks for many years. Maurice, who died in July 2016, eventually transformed the business into A 72nd Street Self Storage at 6100 S. 72nd St. After Maurice retired, Craig ran the business for about 20 years.

“A lot of people knew him,” said Craig’s mother, Barbara. “He wasn’t involved with the chamber so much because he was always working, but he knew the mayor and other people in the community.”

Barbara said riding his bicycle was Craig’s favorite hobby. He also enjoyed going to the lake and the gym and was very fond of animals.

Cullen is survived by his mother, Barbara, sister Susan (Layton) Wille and brothers Michael (Michelle) and Steven Gullen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Humane Society of Omaha.
