At its June 24 meeting, the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education approved the following items:

  • A driver’s education contract with Educational Service Unit #3, in which the ESU will provide the instructor, automobiles and other costs. The curriculum is 20 hours in the classroom and up to four hours behind the wheel. Students pay $350 to take the class, according to district documents.
  • A geothermal well field contract with Omaha Public Power District for construction and supervision of the well field at the school district’s elementary school project at Ashbury Hills. The total cost is $636,015.30.

The board also heard a presentation about LB 1081, the Reading Improvement Act, a yearly review of the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation and a review of policy series 6000 for instruction.

Prior to the meeting, the board held a public hearing concerning student fees.
