Pier 1 comes to Shadow Lake

Pier 1 Imports opened its doors Monday at Shadow Lake Towne Center. The furniture and decor store is the fourth location in Nebraska, and is also the prototype for the chain’s new display scheme.

A new place for furniture, decorations and a dizzying array of pillows and other knickknacks opened its doors Monday at Shadow Lake Towne Center.

Pier 1 Imports opened its fourth Nebraska location in Papillion this week at 7809 Towne Center Parkway. The store comes in at 8,250 square feet of retail space.

Alex Smith, president and chief executive officer of Pier 1 Imports, said in a press release he was pleased to bring a new location to Papillion.

“We look forward to sharing our unique shopping experience with the residents of Papillion and the surrounding area,” Smith said.

The store is also the first in Nebraska to be part of a new prototype for the store chain. Natural-colored floor tiles, more store lighting and lit shelving units are part of a new push for “open stock” display.

The new location will employ 12 to 15 employees throughout the year. There are two Pier 1 locations in Omaha and one in Lincoln.

Brook Spilman, manager of the new location, said she was excited for the new store at Shadow Lake.

“It feels awesome,” she said. “We’re excited to serve Papillion customers. We’re very happy to be here.”
