The Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs District II Art Show took place March 23 at Papillion-La Vista South High School.
The competition featured students from schools in Papillion, Bellevue and Bennington, as well as various women’s club members.
Elementary school winners were Reed Benecke (Walnut Creek Elementary); Caden Fritz (Cornerstone Christian); Bria Copeharve (Walnut Creek); Chahana Thapa (Pine Creek) Ryan Erickson (Patriot); Aubrie Walz (Carriage Hill) and Dallin Gardner (homeschool). Winning for 3-D art was Libby Michela (Carriage Hill).
Thapa was best of show winner for grades K-3 and Erickson was best of show winner for grades 4-6.
Middle schools winners were judged in various categories.
Winning for pastels was Emma Nothelfer (Papillion Jr. High); watercolor was Elijah Maas (Cornerstone Christian); perspective drawing was Linnea Larson (Bennington); radial design was Sarah Merz (Cornerstone Christian); lino print was Lorelei Nystrom (Papillion Jr. High); sculpture/clay was Rome Bridger (Papillion Jr. High); painting was Jasmine Smith (Bennington) and mixed media was Elizabeth Petersen (Papillion Jr. High). Petersen also won for best of show.
In the high school competition, 9-10 acrylic art went to Baylee Clang (Bellevue West) 11-12 acrylic art was Aiden O’Keefe (Papillion-La Vista South); watercolor was Devon Matthews (Bellevue West); portraits was Andrea Gonzales (Bellevue East); accordion book was Haian Nguyen (PLV South); 9-10 oil pastel was Desiree Brown (Bellevue West); 11-12 oil pastel was Rie Oda (PLV South); pen and ink was Josephine Linhart (Bellevue West); graphic design was Riley Stock (PLV South); lincocut was Ryane Matulka (PLV South); drypoint engraving was Kim Mulvaney (PLV South); marker was Paul Thrower (Bellevue West); mandalas was Kero Kent (Bellevue West); oil painting was Elsa Dawson (Bellevue West) and clay was Teeya Olson (PLV South).
Olson also won best of show.
Among club members, first place in the crafts division went to Kathy Huggins (quilting and best of show); Jane Swartz (picture frames, holiday decorations and counted cross stitch) and Diane West (home decorations).
Photography winners were Jane Swartz (scenic and volunteers in action) and Miriam Sukraw (living things and best of show).
